Seattle Seahawks March Scouting Report
Rick Watts
3/11/2024

Free agency has begun for Seattle with the loss of TE Colby Parkinson to the Rams. Parkinson was my sleeper pick going into the 2023 season and the only thing that seemed to stand in his way was the offensive line injuries and offensive play calling. To which I can say in both cases, pun intended. I will be grabbing him near the end of my fantasy draft because he has nothing but upside.

The rest of Seattle’s free agency is not likely to impact fantasy coaches. I think we are finally going to see a lot of talent that will fit into the ‘that guy is bigger than me’ category that has been lacking lately. I even went on a diet to try to help out.

Before I go into the fantasy categories I will elaborate on this point. DT Leonard Williams already has too much paid into him to let him go in free agency. He must be a priority. They opened up cap room by dropping some veterans and restructuring others. Now they need to address key positions. And they can and should address them with Macdonald’s former Ravens starting with LB Patrick Queen. Add in either DE Jadeveon Clowney or OG John Simpson while they are at it. I would like to see them grab OC Coleman Shelton from the Rams too. I do not think they have the cash to be in competition for DE Danielle Hunter, so I think any remaining should go for safeties like FS Xavier McKinney or SS Justin Simmons. Really there are a load of safeties that could be picked up and might take the pressure off the draft at that position. And maybe increase the viability of trading down with the first round pick.

QB-

If the price is right Seattle could take QB Michael Penix in the draft. But even if they do, QB Geno Smith is the starter this year. Geno will be fine. For me the ideal scenario would be to build up wide bodies in free agency, trade down in the first round to pick up more second day capitol and still get Penix.

RB-

No free agency or draft moves needed here. Someone just needs to call running plays and keep the line healthy. RB Ken Walker and RB Zach Charbonnet can both run the rock. In fact, I would even support a whacky trade sending Walker somewhere for draft picks. Charbonnet is the future.

WR-

Seattle should focus on calls to WR DK Metcalf and WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba in order to let WR Tyler Lockett keep his legs for as long as he can. I never want to see him retire. With new play calling coming, all of these guys go up in fantasy value.

TE-

TE Noah Fant may be the next to go after TE Colby Parkinson. TE Will Dissly was cut, so TE Brady Russell seems to be the only tight end on the roster? Seems like they need to score one in the draft because it would be silly to let Fant and Parkinson go in order to pick up someone like TE Adam Trautman.

K-

PK Jason Myers is a lock here and will continue to burn ‘Hawk fan for another season.

D-

I started with these guys because this is where the most action will be. There is talent on the roster but key connecting pieces are needed to put an identity together.

Go Hawks!

End.
